Instructor: Maggie Jiang
With a B.A. in Literature of Theatre Film & Television and M.A. in Theatre Arts, Maggie graduated from Shanghai Theatre Academy, a leading performing arts institute in China. She went on to write screenplays for TV stations while working as a stage manager in a number of plays before coming to the States.
In 2013, Maggie relocated from Chicago to Charlottesville with her family. The following year saw her join The Han Studio and start to dedicate herself to teaching young Americans her mother tongue. Her literary skills and past stage experience have greatly facilitated a smooth student-teacher communication. At her leisure, Maggie enjoys traveling, reading, studyin photography and writing.    


 Instrucor: Sophie Lin
Sophie is fluent in French, English, Mandarin Chinese and Taiwanese, which is a Chinese dialect popularly spoken in Fujian Province as well as in Taiwan, Sophie's hometown. After receiving her B.A. from National Taiwan University, Sophie pursued postgraduate studies in French and acquired another B.A. and M.A. from the University of Paris III, also known as La Sorbonne Nouvelle
A published writer since 1994, Sophie used to work in Taiwan's foreign service and lectured French part-time at a private university. She moved to Charlottesville during Christmas season in 2004 and founded The Han Studio fifteen months later. Between 2006 and 2014, Sophie taught Chinese at THS while giving piano lessons(oh yes!) to students at the University of Virginia. Besides people, she loves creative writing, playing the piano, swimming & stair-master.
Having been active in the real estate industry for 15 years, Sophie is also a licensed Realtor at Long & Foster / Christie's International (Old Ivy Office).
